A journey into heart and soul. The most visceral sonics and temporal, corporeal textures of the human condition exist here in what it means to be human and human(e). Through meaning-making, perspectives on nature, compassion and empathy for our homeless brothers and sisters…through seeing intense human suffering in a cold city, evocative or provocative –following the disruptive course of an inner-city detail…for all our senses respond.
Whether or not the “e” is on the end of the word is reflected in an elusive, sometimes negligently absent shift between human and human(e), as it startles forward from these images and visceral explorations. Artistically, HUMAN(E) traverses a liminally numinous ground in artists’ work like New York’s Sean Southey and Washington D.C.’s Gerald Campbell, whose works humanize environments and elevate conversations about what it means to be human, providing visual narratives for viewers and transforming “images” to global discourse demanding socially and spiritually conscious movement and change for our world.
